Growing Regions 

California’s Almond growing region begins in Kern County at the Southern tip of the Central Valley and ends in Tehama County at the Northern tip of the Sacramento Valley.  The climate and deep fertile soils provide ideal growing conditions for the California almond. California is the #1 producer of Almonds in the World, producing approximately 80% of the world’s total production of almonds.

Varieties:


1, Nonpareil:

Nonpareil has the widest range of uses among the marketing classifications. Nonpareil is easily blanched (skin is removed) and cut for processed forms. A thin outer shell and smooth kernel allow for easy, blemish-free processing. As a result, Nonpareil almonds are used anywhere an attractive appearance or a strong almond identification is important.


2, California (Carmel SSR/Supreme):

This classification includes varieties that are generally branch-able and used primarily in manufactured products. California-type almonds have a wide range of shell hardness, kernel shapes, skin color, and surface characteristics. As a result, they are quite adaptable and well suited for nearly any process or application.


3, Monterey SSR/Supreme:

This type is always a hard shell, but with a smooth surface, and low suture opening. The nut is usually large with a long narrow shape, and the surface is deeply wrinkled.


4, Butte Supreme:

Butte has light color accompanied by a smooth surface, but a semi-hard shell. It is the same as the Monterey type which is a low suture opening. Butte almonds have small nuts, wrinkled surface, and short plump shape.

杏仁种类

1, Nonpareil:

2California (Carmel SSR/Supreme):
